Azure Monitor is an Azure service that offers a central method for organizations to gather operational data from across a range of Azure resources into one location, in order to inform administrators about resource performance and to help make operational decisions.

Service Overview

Monitor gathers information at multiple layers within Azure, including Azure infrastructure, Azure services, and deployed Azure resources, such as an Azure VM or a database within the Azure SQL Database service. Monitor performs two key tasks across a range Azure services and resources, and for select on-premises scenarios:

  • Monitoring and analysis, by providing a central storage and query location for metrics (such as system performance metrics) or logs (such as VM event logs or Azure activity
