Azure Stack HCI Validates Hardware

  • Azure Stack HCI solutions offer Microsoft-validated hardware for virtualized data centers managed by Windows Server 2019.
  • Despite the name, Azure Stack HCI solutions do not host Azure services.
  • Integration with some Azure-hosted management services is facilitated by the Windows Admin Center console.

Azure Stack HCI solutions are Microsoft-validated hardware from third-party vendors that use Windows Server 2019 Datacenter to run traditional on-premises virtualized applications and provide limited integration with Azure infrastructure management services. Stack HCI (hyper-converged infrastructure) solutions are equivalent to the Windows Software-Defined Datacenter solutions for Windows Server 2016 and do not provide Azure services on-premises, in contrast to the similarly named Azure Stack solutions. While customers can gain the same functionality with deployments of Windows Server 2019 designed to their own specifications, Stack HCI solutions could simplify design and integration of data center deployments.
