Local and regional governments are the target of a new reference architecture called the Citizen Services Platform (CSP), which provides design guidelines and software components for local e-government projects, such as services and information delivered to local citizens over the Web. The platform could help local systems integrators and solution providers win government business for solutions that use Microsoft technology in communications, customer relationship management, performance tracking, portals, and workflow.

CSP Kick-Starts E-Government Projects

The CSP is intended to support common types of software and hardware applications needed by local governments to deliver information or handle transactions on the Web with citizens and businesses. The CSP consists of some general documentation about e-government, as well as software components and samples, such as components for Web sites that broadcast text alerts to citizens via a Microsoft-hosted Web service; templates for SharePoint portals oriented to government services, documents, and workflow; and a contact and workflow solution built on Dynamics CRM.
