Analyst ReportConfiguration Manager 2403 Generally Available
- Configuration Manager Current Branch version 2403 became available in Apr. 2024.
- This new version will shortly become the next baseline version.
- Customers should be wary of some breaking changes that may require resolution prior to upgrading to 2403.
Configuration Manager (CM) Current Branch version 2403 includes few new features, but PC management improvements include a dashboard to identify software update issues more readily within customer CM environments in order to resolve them more efficiently.
Arm Support Added
Version 2403 adds limited support for Windows 11 on Arm-processor-based (AArch64) PCs. Supported capabilities include import and customization of Arm-based Windows 11 boot images, Windows Deployment Services (WDS) support for Arm-based boot images, and task sequences for wipe and load of a PC. CMPivot is now also supported for querying information from Windows 11 for Arm PCs.
Breaking Changes Due to Deprecations
Version 2403 will only perform an upgrade if all cloud management gateways (CMGs) have been upgraded from the original Azure cloud service (classic) model to a virtual machine scale set. This version requires the use of HTTPS, as HTTP support was previously deprecated and has now been removed. Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2012 systems are now only supported for infrastructure roles if ESUs are being applied to the server as of this release.
