Analyst ReportConnecting System Center to Visual Studio
A connector for System Center Operations Manager (OM) 2007 R2 lets developers discover and review errors in applications using Visual Studio (VS) Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2010. Now available for preview, the TFS Connector uses AVIcode technology to monitor .NET Framework—based applications and send application performance and diagnostic information to TFS for immediate attention and incident remediation by development staff. Developers should get faster and more detailed information about errors in production code, allowing lower mean time to repair application problems.
Linking Operations to Development
Timely and detailed information sharing between IT operations staff and application developers is critical to maintaining many line-of-business applications. To facilitate the alignment between operations and development, in May 2011 Microsoft released a Community Technology Preview (CTP) of a new connector between OM 2007 R2 and TFS 2010. The System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 connector for Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 provides features similar to those previously available with VS 2005: the Visual Studio 2005 Team System Design for Operations Integration Kit permitted forwarding of information from OM 2005 to VS 2005, but the feature was dropped in later versions of VS.
