Copilot Studio is a low-code development tool for building copilots (formerly called virtual agents). The tool is a component of the Power Platform, and it is a rebranding of Power Virtual Agents. Copilot Studio is discussed in “Power Virtual Agents Are Now Copilots And Get Generative AI,” and the following report discusses a feature of Copilot Studio that lets citizen developers build copilots that can be used as plugins to Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Copilots are natural language assistants that help users retrieve and update information and run processes, reducing training and difficulty that would otherwise be required to perform manual processes or use custom applications. Copilot for Microsoft 365, which is generally available, works across Office applications to help users work with internal documents and data. Copilot Studio can be used to build Copilot for Microsoft 365 plugins, which add capabilities such as working with internal expense reporting applications, entering orders in a fulfillment system, and integrating with third-party solutions like Atlassian Jira, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.
