Delve is a set of Office 365 features that present personalized search results and views of content to users, based on user activity and other information collected by the Office Graph service. Delve and Office Graph can help users discover valuable people and resources and promote collaboration in large organizations. However, they do not replace enterprise search, they introduce security and compliance risks, and they compete with other technologies for user and IT attention. Consequently, many organizations will want to first deploy Delve and Office Graph to small groups of users and understand their impact.

Delve Selects Content for Each User

Delve presents the user with personalized lists of cards that preview relevant Office 365 content and recent activity. (See the illustration “Delve Home Page“.) The effect is like a Facebook or Yammer newsfeed, except that many of the entries are automatically generated from content produced by users, rather than explicitly posted by the users themselves. Delve views are security-trimmed: A user will see only content to which the user has access. Mobile applications for iOS and Android provide quick access to Delve views and notifications of changes. Delve also provides a search box that delivers personally targeted results in card form.
