Analyst ReportDeploying, Modeling Web Services
A forthcoming set of extensions to Windows Server (code-named Dublin) will simplify management of workflows and Web services using Microsoft technologies, while a modeling platform (code-named Oslo) will simplify development of workflows and Web services as well as other programming tasks. Previews of both technologies were released at Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference in Oct. 2008.
Dublin Application Server Extensions
Dublin is a set of Windows Server extensions to host Windows Workflow Foundation workflows and Windows Communication Foundation Web services, and includes capabilities for IT personnel to deploy, host, and manage Web services and workflows. For example, it provides a persistence capability, which enables a long-running workflow (such as a business-to-business purchasing process) to save its state to a database while inactive and free up memory for other services. Dublin also enables administrators to manage services through PowerShell scripts and extensions to the IIS Web server console, IIS Manager.
