The new version of Microsoft’s tools for deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007 updates and expands support for the latest versions of Windows and Office, and gets a new name: the Microsoft Deployment Solution Accelerator. The release of the accelerator in Nov. 2007 will give large organizations the latest deployment tools when Microsoft releases the first service pack (SP) for Vista in early 2008, eliminating one barrier to widespread enterprise adoption of the OS. But while the tools may help with deployment, they do not guarantee success.

Updated Tools

The Deployment Solution Accelerator (formerly known as the Business Desktop Deployment Accelerator) includes guidance and tools for deploying Windows Vista and Office 2007. It can also help customers deploy Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Updated components in the latest version include the following:

Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) 5.0 helps customers identify applications that may require further testing and modification to work well on Vista. The new version uses the .NET Framework 2.0 and offers improved deployment of the toolkit components and compatibility fixes to tested computers.
