Organizations interested in deploying standardized Windows XP, Vista, and Office 2007 configurations to desktop computers will find that a new version of the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) 2007 provides improved end-to-end guidance and tools. Although the accelerator contains updated documentation, tools, templates, and scripts for planning, testing, and deploying customized desktops, administrators will have to learn how to best use the new technologies, such as Microsoft’s new file-based ImageX imaging format, in their particular environment.

The BDD has two key components: documentation and tools. The documentation contains planning information, such as how to structure a deployment team and make the business case for deployment, as well as task-related articles, such as how to test and mitigate problems with application compatibility.
