New distance-learning courses available through Microsoft training partners blend remote access, live instructors, real-life simulations, and online labs, along with longer instruction periods that give students more time to absorb and practice what they have just learned before tackling new subjects. The Microsoft Official Distance Learning (MODL) courses will make it easier and less expensive for students to attend courses and give instructors more flexibility, and they could help spur the growth of distance learning, still only a small part of technical education, as well as sales of enabling Microsoft technologies.

Using Current Technologies

MODL represents one of the latest educational trends, blended learning, in which many different learning approaches, including classroom lectures, group discussions, illustrations, text, and hands-on experimentation, can be tailored for the student and for the particular course of study. It is particularly compatible with technical training because most of these types of learning materials can be accessed by a computer.
