Analyst ReportDynamics ERP and CRM
Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) markets five major products under the Dynamics brand. These include four enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications-Dynamics AX, GP, NAV, and SL-that were the product of Microsoft’s acquisitions of Great Plains in 2001 and Navision in 2002. These products offer small and midsize businesses support for financial accounting, inventory management, tracking of intercompany transactions (such as orders and payments), and managing other company resources, such as personnel. Each product is composed of a number of distinct applications-called modules-that provide basic business functions, such as general ledger and payment processing. Each product also includes developer tools for building custom modules, creating custom solutions, or integrating other business applications. Although the four ERP products overlap functionally, their target markets, geographies, and functional emphases differ. For example, AX and NAV are strong in Europe, and GP is used in North America; GP emphasizes financial accounting functionality, and SL places greater focus on project accounting.
