The Dynamics NAV roadmap was updated at the Apr. 2011 Dynamics Convergence conference and May 2011 Directions EMEA conference. Microsoft Dynamics NAV offers enterprise resource planning (ERP) to midsize organizations, frequently in manufacturing, distribution, and services, and has gained over 1.35 million users worldwide. Plans for the next two years call for improved reporting and document management, better Web access for mobile and occasional users, and a Microsoft hosting option that could reduce infrastructure costs. However, the planned removal of some Dynamics NAV components will affect existing customizations and third-party extensions.

Reporting, Document Add-Ons in 2011

Two planned add-ons from partners will enhance reporting and document management capabilities in Dynamics NAV 2009 and 2009 R2, the most recent versions:

Jet Reports Express, from Jet Reports, will provide Excel extensions for analyzing Dynamics NAV data and designing reports. This could open NAV report design to more users and let experienced users exploit new Excel analysis tools, such as the PowerPivot add-in for analysis and reporting on large data sets.
