- Government customers in the United States can license Enterprise Mobility + Security suites designed to comply with privacy and security regulations.
- Some suites offer a subset of user, system, and data management features available to commercial customers, but others offer parity.
- Microsoft is striving to deliver government customers services that offer parity with commercial offerings.
The Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) suite, available stand-alone and included with government Microsoft 365 suites, offers government customers in the U.S. the capabilities of the service, designed to meet government compliance requirements.
EMS for Government
EMS suites are licensed in E3 and E5 editions. The EMS E3 suite offers user, device, and information management capabilities. The EMS E5 suite offers premium tiers of some E3 services and adds security features and services. The EMS E3 and E5 suites are included in the Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 suites, respectively.
Like their Office 365 counterparts, EMS U.S. government offerings are designed to meet specific regulatory standards, particularly Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) regulations. All EMS government services and their data reside in the United States, and access to government customer content is restricted to screened Microsoft personnel.
