Customers can no longer acquire new From-SA (Software Assurance) Subscription Licenses (SLs), which offers a programmatic discount in recognition of prior investment in SA-covered Microsoft desktop and Client Access License (CAL) products. Enterprise Agreement (EA) customers who already own From-SA subscriptions will be able to keep and renew their existing licenses and thus continue to benefit from the discount. However, organizations not renewing their EA or that are transitioning to a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) will no longer have access to the From-SA SKU and the associated discount.

From-SA SKUs are a special class of SL that allowed customers to purchase subscriptions with the same use rights as a “regular” SKU but at a discount of between 10% and 20%. From-SA SKUs were available for the Microsoft 365 Enterprise family of products and Microsoft Dynamics 365 services. First introduced in 2014, From-SA SKUs could be purchased by eligible EA customers who met certain prerequisites regarding past on-premises product purchases. The ability to purchase new From-SA SKUs ended for Microsoft 365 in Feb. 2024 and for Dynamics 365 in Apr. 2024.
