Exchange Server updates released in Feb. 2013 enable coexistence of Exchange 2007 and 2010 with Exchange 2013 and compatibility of Exchange 2010 with Windows Server 2012.

Exchange Server 2010 SP3 will allow Exchange 2010 to coexist in deployments with Exchange 2013. However, Exchange 2013 Cumulative Update 1 (CU1), which is expected to become available in the first quarter of 2013, is required for coexistence with Exchange 2010, so mixed deployments are not yet supported. SP3 also enables Exchange Server 2010 to run on Windows Server 2012, although the OS on an existing Exchange installation cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2012. SP3 also includes fixes and all patches and additions released in rollup updates (RUs) since SP2. (Exchange 2010 SP2 RU6 became available on the same day as SP3, but SP3 includes the RU6 patches.) SP3 requires an Active Directory schema update. It is available at www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=36768.

Exchange 2007 SP3 RU10 will allow Exchange 2007 to coexist with Exchange 2013 when CU1 is applied. RU10 is available at www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=36708.
