Analyst ReportExpressRoute Dedicated Networks Connect to Microsoft
ExpressRoute is an Azure service that creates dedicated connections between on-premises or hosted infrastructure and Microsoft’s data centers. ExpressRoute does not use the public Internet, and it offers higher security, reliability, and speed with lower latencies than typical connections over the Internet. ExpressRoute is provided by Microsoft and partners and is available at several throughput levels and in many regions. The service can be used with most Azure services, and it will be available for use with Office 365 and Skype for Business in the third quarter of 2015.
Global Coverage Through Partners
The Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute service provides dedicated, private, virtual network connections (circuits) from a customer’s on-premises network to one or more of Microsoft’s more than 100 data centers around the world. Two connection methods are offered: through a network service provider, such as a telecommunications company, and through an Exchange service provider. ExpressRoute is designed for connecting to Azure services such as those used for backup and disaster recovery or for running mission-critical workloads. ExpressRoute can effectively make Azure part of the customer’s data center.
