  • Microsoft has introduced Fabric management features that simplify controlling compute resources across all workspaces in a deployment.
  • They help admins optimize resources, prevent runaway processes, and enforce standardization.
  • The features make the service more compatible with Synapse Analytics and may remove a migration barrier.

New Fabric administrative features for Fabric Data Engineering and Fabric Data Science components allow admins to define and enforce the use of Spark resource pools at the capacity level, rather than at the workspace level. The features provide a more centralized administration location, which can help control cost, prevent workloads from consuming excessive resources, and ensure compute resources are available for other users and applications in the capacity. The change also brings Fabric’s administration capabilities closer to those of its predecessor Synapse Analytics and other services like Azure Databricks.
