Analyst ReportForefront Identity Manager Support Extended
End dates for both Mainstream and Extended support for Microsoft’s Forefront Identity Manager have been extended by more than two years, in a move that came just days before Mainstream support was due to expire. The extension of the support dates brings them in line with the normal Microsoft support life-cycle policy. It also means that the current Identity Manager products will be in Mainstream support when Microsoft releases the delayed Identity Manager 2016, now expected in the third quarter of 2015.
Two Years’ Additional Support
Forefront Identity Manager 2010 and 2010 R2 maintain user identity data, such as group memberships and addresses, across all the applications and OS services that use the data. A key identity management task is synchronization between the Windows Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Azure Active Directory (AAD), and other directories, databases, and business applications. Identity Manager also handles smart cards, digital certificates, and other types of tokens for secure authentication.
