Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server, which provides antimalware, antispam, and content filtering for Microsoft’s e-mail server software, was released in Nov. 2009, simultaneously with Exchange Server 2010. Forefront Online Protection for Exchange was also updated at the same time. The updates add support for Exchange 2010 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Both are part of the next versions of the Forefront line of products that were released in 2009 and 2010.

Forefront Protection for E-Mail

Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange, previously named Forefront Security for Exchange, scans e-mail content and attachments and can delete, quarantine, or repair messages found to contain malware and can alert administrators or e-mail users about actions taken. Forefront administrators can tailor a variety of notification options and actions to take when a suspect message is detected. For example, messages can be marked as likely to be “spam” but forwarded to a user’s Outlook junk mail folder for later inspection, and senders marked as “safe” by Outlook users can be added to the Forefront safe senders list.
