Analyst ReportFSLogix Offers VDI Benefits
- FSLogix can improve performance in nonpersistent VDI environments, particularly for Office applications such as Outlook.
- Acquired by Microsoft in late 2018, FSLogix is included with Microsoft 365 and Windows Enterprise licenses as of July 2019.
- FSLogix is expected to be integrated into the Windows Virtual Desktop hosted service when it becomes available in late 2019.
FSLogix is a set of features for Windows that makes user profile data available from a network source rather than downloading user profiles to a desktop at login. It will particularly improve login and application performance of nonpersistent virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
Improvements for Nonpersistent Virtual Desktops
Most VDI environments use pooled or nonpersistent VMs to host virtual desktops, presenting a new or different VM to users each time they connect. Normally, this requires the local user profile and other locally cached user data to be copied each time a user logs into or out of a VM, which slows login times and creates additional network traffic.
