A free toolkit provides software components, samples, and documentation to help developers build utilities that connect PerformancePoint Server 2007 to back-end data sources, such as general ledger systems. PerformancePoint Server is a business performance management application that supports budgeting and financial reporting, among other capabilities. However, because the toolkit uses an older version of Microsoft’s .NET Framework application platform, developers will not have access to Language Integrated Query, or LINQ, a database development technology that simplifies creation of applications such as those targeted by the integration toolkit.

Integrates PerformancePoint and GLs

Introduced late in 2007, PerformancePoint Server 2007 includes tools and services to support financial planning and reporting processes, such as budgeting and year-end fiscal reporting. The PerformancePoint Data Integration Toolkit, introduced in Mar. 2008, addresses one possible barrier to adoption of the product out of the box—PerformancePoint Server does not work with most general ledger and accounting applications.
