  • Office apps for phones and iPads will integrate more Copilot natural language features and Purview protections for sensitive documents.
  • Most planned new features are already available on desktops, but some will be especially useful on phones.
  • Companies should review risks and controls of Copilot before promoting it for mobile use.

Microsoft 365 Mobile Apps can create, edit, and view Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and Word files on phones and tablets. Information workers can use the apps to participate in document reviews and other processes while away from their computers, and mobile workers such as delivery drivers can view or edit documents without having to carry a laptop. Mobile Office users could especially benefit from planned Copilot natural language capabilities and Purview improvements to protect data.

Microsoft 365 Mobile Apps were previously called Office mobile or the Office mobile apps. Three of the apps, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, are delivered in an app with a similar-sounding name, Microsoft 365 Copilot App for Mobile. Although mobile Teams and Outlook are sometimes listed alongside the Microsoft 365 Mobile Apps, they are serviced and licensed separately and not discussed further here.
