Analyst ReportMobile Device Management Strengthened in Windows Intune
Windows Intune, Microsoft’s online subscription service for managing clients, was updated in Feb. 2014 to provide more management capabilities for mobile devices. The updates allow administrators to set stronger security policies, particularly those associated with e-mail and mobile applications, strengthening the control that companies have in “bring your own device” (BYOD) scenarios when employee-owned devices have access to corporate resources. The method in which antimalware is installed was also changed to make it more likely that devices will be protected.
E-Mail Profiles, Remote Wipe, Remote Lock
Windows Intune is a set of Microsoft-hosted online services that provides antimalware, hardware and software inventories, health monitoring, software updating, and policy management, allowing small to midsize organizations to manage PCs using online services hosted in Microsoft data centers rather than deploying an on-premises management and security infrastructure. Since its original release in 2011, Intune has been updated several times with increasing emphasis on managing mobile devices.
