Tools are now freely available for SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010 that help minimize the attack surface of SharePoint systems, assist with migration to SharePoint 2010, enhance coexistence with earlier versions, and enable interoperability between SharePoint and third-party content management systems.

Suite of Tools to Manage SharePoint Servers

The SharePoint 2010 Administration Kit combines several tools—some available previously—in a package that has been specifically designed and tested to work with SharePoint 2010.

Security Configuration Wizard manifests add SharePoint rules to the Windows Security Configuration Wizard. The wizard helps lock down a server based on the server’s role.

Load Testing Toolkit integrates into Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) and performs SharePoint server load testing for capacity planning or acceptance testing. The toolkit generates synthetic loads for testing SharePoint server farms with VSTS using IIS logs from an existing SharePoint server.
