Server and Cloud Enrollment (SCE), an Enterprise Agreement (EA) enrollment offering discounts on SQL Server and other infrastructure and developer products, launched in Nov. 2013. Concurrently, two related enrollments are being retired: the Enrollment for Application Platform (EAP) and the Enrollment for Core Infrastructure (ECI). Now, SCE is the only contract combining the lowest available server and tool per-unit pricing, price protection for the duration of a contract, the convenience of annual True-Up purchasing, and the flexibility to mix perpetual licenses and subscriptions. However, SCE requires a major purchase commitment: an organization must cover its entire installed base of at least some products and make ongoing annuity payments for those products through the agreement term.

All purchases in an SCE include Software Assurance (SA). SA is a subscription attached to a license that provides rights to new product versions and other benefits, such as special-use rights related to virtualization.
