  • Microsoft 365 Apps (formerly Office 365 ProPlus) is introducing a new monthly update channel and changing existing channels.
  • The new Monthly Enterprise update channel offers more stable versions with new features for early testing.
  • Microsoft 365 Apps tenants created after June 9, 2020, will receive less-stable monthly updates unless they opt out.

A new update channel for Microsoft 365 Apps (formerly Office 365 ProPlus), called the Monthly Enterprise Channel, arrived in May 2020 for devices running Windows. Microsoft is also renaming update channels for Microsoft 365 Apps and changing its default updating policy for new customers starting in June 2020.

New Monthly Enterprise Channel

The new Monthly Enterprise Channel provides a version of Microsoft 365 Apps with feature updates on the second Tuesday of each month, commonly known as Patch Tuesday. Versions released to the Monthly Enterprise Channel are supported for two months, during which security and nonsecurity (bug fix) updates will be provided as necessary.
