Analyst ReportNext SQL Server Updates Visual Studio Tools
The upcoming SQL Server version code-named Denali will deliver a new set of developer tools from the SQL Server product team, available both as a stand-alone application and as a set of plug-ins for Visual Studio (VS) 2010. Key enhancements from earlier VS tools are focused around improving developer workflow, productivity, and code reliability. The tools will be useful for individuals and teams of SQL Server application developers and will likely help teams develop and update applications more rapidly, with fewer errors when deploying or updating databases. Not yet available in the current Customer Technology Preview (CTP) of Denali, the developer tools, code-named Juneau, were announced at the Nov. 2010 Professional Association of SQL Server (PASS) Summit.
Database Development Enhanced by Juneau
Database development within VS is not new; it has been included for some time. Notably, VS 2008 shipped a Database edition targeted exclusively at database developers. When VS 2010 released, the functionality included in Database edition was subsumed into the Premium and Ultimate editions of VS.
