  • Office 2019 Professional Plus is in preview and due in late 2018.
  • Its only new features are a subset of those already implemented in Office 365 ProPlus.
  • Required changes, such as migration to Windows 10, could present upgrade blockers.

Office Professional Plus is an application suite usually bought Per-Device with a perpetual license, without the additional services that Office 365 subscriptions include. The 2019 version is in preview and consists of Access, Excel, OneNote (the 2016 version), Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, and the Skype for Business client. Project Professional and Visio Professional are also included in the preview but are packaged and licensed separately.

New and Missing Features in Professional Plus

Office 2019 Professional Plus application features are subsets of those already available to subscribers of Office 365 ProPlus, the Per-User subscription suite. Feature improvements are relatively minor: Access and Excel gain some new charts and visualizations from Power BI, Word offers new themes and some additional text-to-speech features, and PowerPoint handles more image types.
