Office mobile applications for Android smartphones were released June 2015, enabling viewing, creation, and editing of Office documents across most modern Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. The applications allow licensed users to create and edit Office documents while traveling, with less likelihood of corruption than third-party Office document editors for mobile devices. Viewing is free for all users, but any further commercial use requires an appropriate commercial Office 365 subscription. No other option exists to enable commercial use of these applications.

Applications Now Stand-Alone

In June 2015, Microsoft announced stand-alone Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications for Android smartphones, completing Microsoft’s line of Office applications for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. These stand-alone applications replace the previously available Office Mobile applications on many of the platforms and allow for free viewing of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word documents, including viewing offline.
