Office LTSC to Last Through 2029

• Office LTSC 2024 extends the support lifespan of Microsoft’s oldest Office suites until at least 2029.
• It will be useful for special situations such as some shared desktops and offline sites.
• Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise remains the default Office suite for information workers.

Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) 2024, generally available Oct. 1, 2024, is the latest version of Microsoft’s non-subscription-based Office products. Although Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (M365 Apps) remains the focus of Office development and the default choice for most information workers, Office LTSC 2024 offers a Per-Device, perpetual licensing (no subscription required) option with five years of support, minimal feature updates, and offline operation. These qualities make it useful for devices with limited Internet connectivity, shared devices, and other special situations. However, Office LTSC lacks many features of the M365 Apps subscription suite, including Copilot authoring assistance.
