Office 365 ProPlus follows a different release and retirement schedule than Office Standard and Office Professional Plus. This illustration shows upcoming version releases and support retirements for these suites.

Office Standard and Office Professional Plus:

Office Standard and Office Professional Plus are perpetually licensed versions subject to Microsoft’s Business, Developer, and Desktop OS support policy, which has offered five years of Mainstream and five years of Extended support for each version. The next Office Standard and Professional Plus version to leave Extended support is version 2010, on Oct. 13, 2020. Microsoft has announced the next version of these suites will be Office 2019, which should arrive in the second half of 2018. However, Office 2019 will be an exception to the established support policy and will receive only about two years of Extended Support; Office 2016 and Office 2019 will leave support concurrently in Oct. 2025. This could mean that Microsoft will no longer support any perpetually licensed Office suites after that date, although the company has not announced any plans.
