Analyst ReportOn-Premises and Internet Deployment of Office 365 ProPlus
Office 365
- When deploying the Office 365 ProPlus suite, customers must choose between simpler administration and greater customization flexibility.
- Deploying ProPlus from a local source can provide more customization, but it will require more maintenance.
- Requiring users to install ProPlus from the Office portal could limit control over the process.
Office 365 ProPlus is the subscription Office suite delivered with Office 365 plans. Before deploying Office 365 ProPlus to an organization, administrators must decide how to customize the installations for users’ needs and how to deploy the suite to users. They can choose to deploy from local servers, which offers greater customization flexibility; a Microsoft-hosted service, which offers simpler administration; or a local deployment with a fallback to the Internet source. Office 365 ProPlus installation differs from that of Office Professional Plus, the traditional Office suite deployed by enterprises, so organizations will have to plan differently when migrating to the subscription version.
