Analyst ReportPerformancePoint 2007 SP1 Supports New Server OS
The first service pack for PerformancePoint Server 2007 adds support for Windows Server 2008 and addresses performance and usability problems in the product’s debut version, which shipped in Sept 2007. PerformancePoint Server 2007 is a collection of applications that support financial reporting and budgeting, business data analysis and reporting, and business performance management via quantitative summary reports called scorecards. PerformancePoint Server 2007 SP1 also provides limited support for prerelease versions of SQL Server 2008; full support will come in a second PerformancePoint service pack after SQL Server 2008 ships in the third quarter of 2008.
Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 Compatible
Along with the usual list of bug fixes delivered by service packs, PerformancePoint Server 2007 SP1 adds support for the latest edition of Windows Server. Windows Server 2008 shipped in Feb. 2008 and includes updates to management and configuration programs, among other new features. Although PerformancePoint 2007 SP1 does not explicitly take advantage of many new features in Windows Server 2008, compatibility removes an upgrade barrier for organizations that are using PerformancePoint and are planning to upgrade their infrastructures to the new OS version.
