PerformancePoint Server, a collection of three applications that support quantitative tracking of an organization’s effectiveness, will be discontinued as of Apr. 2009. Some of the product’s technology will be moved into the SharePoint Server product and other components will be discontinued entirely. Customers and partners could see significant changes as Microsoft merges PerformancePoint features into SharePoint; those using the discontinued features face eventual migration to another solution. One option, the FRx financial reporting and Forecaster budgeting applications will not be terminated as earlier planned.

Product Aided Reporting, Scorecards, Analysis

Introduced Sept. 2007, PerformancePoint Server is a bundle of three corporate performance management applications.

Planning supports centralized financial planning and reporting processes, such as budgeting and year-end financial consolidation.

Monitoring is based on the previous Business Scorecard Manager (BSM) 2005 and includes design tools and a Web application for creating and distributing business scorecards, which are collections of metrics that track an organization’s performance. Business analysts can use Monitoring to design scorecards from a variety of data sources and publish them to SharePoint sites.
