Places Ready for Evaluation, but Future Unclear

Microsoft Places is a set of advanced work-scheduling features for Teams and Exchange Online, intended for employees who move frequently between work locations. Places is available to users by default but requires IT professionals to configure it and set policy. Customers evaluating work-scheduling solutions should consider Places, because its core capabilities are included in most Microsoft 365 and Office 365 enterprise plans.

Places is intended for firms where workers move frequently between work locations, and share resources such as rooms and desks while in the office.  Places is available to Microsoft 365 users by default, but deployments should be planned centrally to avoid inconsistent data and regulatory compliance problems. Microsoft 365 customers who are considering workplace management solutions should evaluate Places, but customers should not assume it will get major improvements in the future until Microsoft reveals more of its plans.
