Analyst ReportPower BI Premium Introduces Per-User Licensing
- A new Power BI license will help groups that need premium Power BI reporting on a small scale.
- It provides most of the features offered in Premium capacity subscriptions, but at a lower-cost entry point.
- Sharing content could force licensing more users than planned.
Power BI Premium Per-User (PPU) is a new licensing option that will most likely interest small groups or departments that need Premium features but do not have the budget or number of users to justify the more expensive Premium-capacity license. However, customers should evaluate PPU cautiously, as it can result in the need to increase licensing for all users who interact with PPU hosted content.
Premium Overview
Power BI includes software and cloud services that provide data management, data analysis, and reporting. Power BI offers multiple back-end hosting platforms that enable publishing and distribution of shared datasets and reports, processing data to produce (render) reports, managing user access, and delivering reports through clients.
