  • Copilot and AI features dominate the roadmap for Power Apps and other Power Platform products.
  • Other updates promise more professional development and administration features.
  • A plan to enforce licensing rules also hints at more restrictive licensing in the future.
  • As with most Microsoft offerings, Copilot and AI feature prominently in the plans for Power Platform tools.

Power Platform components, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse, are a set of low-code design and development tools that can be used to create line-of-business apps, workflows, data-driven Web sites, chatbots (also called copilots), and databases for business data. The feature roadmap for these offerings is published in a forward-looking “release wave” document twice a year. The latest document, released in Jan. 2024, focuses on Copilot and AI, data integration, administration and governance, and developer improvements. (The roadmap for the business intelligence (BI) component of Power Platform, Power BI, is covered in the regularly updated Microsoft 365 Roadmap.)
