Project for the Web continues to receive regular updates and enhancements, including expanded collaboration and service availability.
Project Online, which Project for the Web will eventually replace, remains better suited for management of large, complex projects.
Expected updates to Project for the Web will narrow the capabilities gap with Project Online, but project migration remains an issue.

Project for the Web is a Microsoft 365 service that is part of the Project family of project management software, which includes client applications, server products, and online services. Microsoft plans to eventually replace the existing Project Online service with Project for the Web but has not yet announced a retirement date for Project Online, and Project for the Web still lacks several capabilities of Project Online. However, Project for the Web is the focus of new development, while Project Online will continue to receive only performance and security improvements.
