  • In Aug. 2025, Microsoft will retire Project for the Web, completing the transition to Planner.
  • Planner is the new interface to Project for the Web data and features without migration or licensing changes.
  • Users attempting to use Project for the Web after Aug. 2025 will be redirected to the Planner Web application.
  • Project Online, Project Server, and Project Desktop are unchanged and are still offered and supported.

A “new” Planner, currently available to all customers, offers a unified interface to tasks, plans, and projects from multiple sources, including Project for the Web, To Do, and the earlier Planner service. Microsoft announced a transition from Project for the Web to new Planner in Nov. 2023 and will retire Project for the Web in Aug. 2025. Customers will have access in Planner to the same project data and features (with two exceptions) as before, without any need to migrate project data or purchase different licenses.
