An architecture overhaul will simplify configuration and management of the next version of Reporting Services, a SQL Server component that helps developers and information workers create, manage, and distribute reports. The changes will also reduce the likelihood of report processing failures under high loads, such as large volumes of reports or complex, memory-intensive reports. In addition, new layout options allow report formats that would have been difficult or impossible in the previous version. Platform for Managed Reporting

Reporting Services is a component of the SQL Server database management product and consists of tools and services that help developers and information workers design, manage, and distribute reports. The combination of Reporting Services with two other SQL Server components, Integration Services and Analysis Services, unofficially comprises the SQL Server business intelligence (BI) platform, which aims to help organizations extract and analyze data from business applications and databases to improve their ability to make business decisions.
