Office 365 administrators use the Security & Compliance Center Web portal to access the resources needed to manage and check the security of their Office 365 installations and ensure compliance with governance regulations and corporate policy. Customers wary of Office 365-hosted services for security and regulatory compliance reasons may find the Security & Compliance Center pulls together documentation to verify that the service complies with their requirements and help them understand its own role in compliance. Many tasks still require using other Office 365 administrative portals, but more security and compliance features are migrating to this portal. (The Security & Compliance Center has undergone a series of name changes. It was previously referred to as the Compliance Center and the Protection Center.)
The value of the Security & Compliance Center falls into two basic areas: managing security and managing and learning about compliance with regulations, law, and corporate policy.
