  • Customers should change the update channel for every PC currently updating Microsoft 365 Apps through the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
  • Semi-Annual Enterprise customers will have to start actually deploying versions twice a year, rather than skipping versions as they can now.
  • Customers with complex test requirements should consider migrating some solutions off Microsoft 365 Apps.

Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (M365 Apps) customers must move PCs off the Semi-Annual Enterprise (Preview) update channel to other update channels as soon as possible. Update channels are services that deliver versions of M365 Apps, and security updates and bug fixes for each version while it is supported. The Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (preview) and Semi-Annual Enterprise channels have offered long support periods and advance warning of breaking changes. This stability appeals to customers with applications that depend on Microsoft 365 Apps APIs, and customers that must periodically re-certify PC configurations for security and regulatory compliance. These customers must plan for more testing and certification effort, and some should consider reducing the role of Microsoft 365 Apps in their solutions.
