Server Application Version Support
Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016 support is available for current versions of most applications. Shown here are several application versions and their announced, planned, or likely eligibility for Microsoft product support when running on versions of Windows Server and SQL Server, as of July 17, 2017.
Checked indicates supported combinations of versions. Some applications might require a patch or update from Microsoft to enable Windows Server 2016 or SQL Server 2016 support.
Planned combinations will eventually be eligible for support according to announced Microsoft plans.
Likely combinations (not shown) have not been announced but appear likely to gain support with future application updates.
Unchecked indicates combinations that are not supported and have no announced plans for support. Some combinations might eventually be supported, such as 2013 applications running on Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016.
Application versions earlier than those shown here are generally not supported on Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016. For example, Exchange Server 2007 and SharePoint Server 2007 are not supported on Windows Server 2016, and SharePoint Server 2007 is not supported on SQL Server 2016.
