Service packs have been reissued for SharePoint Server 2013, Project Server 2013, and other related products after having been recalled for a bug that could block installation of future updates. Organizations that previously installed the service packs on affected products will need to update again with the replacement packages, or they might be at risk because they may be unable to apply future security fixes and other updates.

SharePoint, Project Server, and Office Web Apps Affected

Service packs were rereleased for the following products and versions:

  • SharePoint Server 2013, including SharePoint Foundation 2013 and language packs
  • Project Server 2013 (which requires SharePoint Server 2013)
  • Office Web Apps Server 2013.

The rereleased service packs can be installed on top of the original service packs where they were already installed. “Slipstreamed” media, which results in product installations that incorporate the updates, were not affected by the bug. However, some slipstreamed SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1 installations are affected by a separate search bug that is fixed by the revised SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1 package, so organizations will want to apply that package to affected installations.
