SharePoint Business Connectivity Services is retired as of Sep. 2024

SharePoint Business Connectivity Services (BCS) has been deprecated and will be fully disabled in SharePoint Online by Sept. 30, 2024. BCS allows customers to create connections to online and on-premises data sources, such as SQL Azure, that run outside a SharePoint site; the technology was commonly used to set up e-commerce sites in SharePoint Online. In advance of the feature’s full retirement, BCS will be blocked by default, starting Jan. 8, 2024, in new Microsoft 365 tenants, as well as in those who have not used BCS since Oct. 30, 2023. SharePoint Online administrators can view and manage existing BCS connections in the SharePoint Admin portal. Microsoft recommends migrating existing SharePoint Online solutions built with BCS to Power Apps but has not provided direct migration tools or guidance. More information about the BCS retirement is available at https://learn.microsoft.com/sharepoint/business-connectivity-services-retirement.
