Skype for Business Cloud Connector Edition (CCE) allows an organization’s Skype for Business Online tenancy with Cloud PBX services to leverage existing on-premises public services telephone network (PSTN) connections. The technology is designed for organizations unable to move PSTN services completely to the cloud for various reasons, including unavailability of Microsoft calling services in their region. However, Skype for Business CCE has limitations and indirect costs that can make other PSTN calling options more attractive for Skype for Business Online customers unable to use cloud PSTN.

A Bridge to Hosted Telephony

Customers who intend to fully migrate to Skype for Business Online Cloud PBX and Microsoft PSTN Calling, which add traditional public branch exchange (PBX) capabilities and conventional calling services to Skype for Business Online, might be unable to migrate for the following reasons:

Calling services are not available in their region. Skype for Business PSTN Calling service is currently available in France, Puerto Rico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with preview services available in Ireland and the Netherlands. No timeline has been announced for other regions.
