Solomon Improves Project Management

My Atlas / Analyst Reports

842 wordsTime to read: 5 min

The latest release of Solomon, one of Microsoft’s accounting and business management systems, integrates with Project 2002 to help project-oriented businesses better manage costs and schedules. Microsoft is also making previously excluded project management functionality available for the lower-priced Solomon Standard. These moves could help Microsoft more accurately target specific types of businesses and attract a broader range of companies to Business Solutions products. In addition, Solomon 5.5’s closer integration with Microsoft’s traditional products, particularly Project and Office, could increase the perceived value of Business Solutions products and help Microsoft cross-sell a wider range of software into Business Solutions accounts.

Features Enhanced, Better Integration

Like the similar Great Plains product line, Solomon is sold in sets (called “series”) of modules that perform specific functions. The Project Series, for example, contains modules for project budgeting and expense tracking. Customers license one or more series, which contain core modules, and purchase additional modules for those series as needed.
