Teams Connect shared channels, in preview, enable the creation of team channels that can be shared with users from different Microsoft 365 tenancies.
Shared channels could simplify Teams communication with partners external to the organization, and with internal departments that have their own tenancies.
Azure AD B2B direct connect, also in preview, enables Team Connect shared channels and could be used for future collaboration scenarios.

A preview of Teams Connect shared channels allows organizations to invite users from other Microsoft 365 tenancies into a shared channel without using guest accounts. It leverages Azure Active Directory (AD) B2B direct connect, a preview feature, to create a mutual trust relationship between Azure AD tenancies. Shared channels could ease collaboration with outside partners, or internally for organizations with multiple Microsoft 365 tenancies, but is unlikely to reach general availability until late 2022.
