Analyst ReportTeams Enterprise Gains Events and Places from Premium
- Effective Apr. 1, 2026, some features from Teams Premium will be included in Teams Enterprise at no additional cost.
- This includes capabilities for advanced webinars and town halls, Places, and Microsoft eCDN, but not meeting security or intelligent recap.
- New and updated add-on licenses enable larger interactive events in Teams and capabilities for managing shared physical desks in Places.
- Customers may be able to reduce their Teams Premium licenses but may also need new Teams Shared Spaces and Attendee Capacity Pack licenses.
The standard Teams Enterprise User Subscription License (User SL) included in most Microsoft 365 suites will gain capabilities for hosting Teams events and accessing Places features that previously required a Teams Premium User SL. This change may serve to increase adoption of features that, to Microsoft, were not driving sufficient revenue for Teams Premium. Although Teams Premium will retain most other capabilities like meeting recaps and additional security features, this change could result in savings for organizations that purchased Teams Premium for event organizers or to leverage the workspace management capabilities of Places. However, some event features still require Premium, and new requirements for large events could incur new costs.
